Kartra Image Size Big Secret

Here’s the big secret when you create the image to upload to you Kartra post:

Double the size of the image you grabbed on Page Ruler or the standard images size you’ll find below.

Why?

Because all the pages in Kartra are responsive. Most browsers are set by default to a 16 x 9 ratio which is 1600 pixels x 900 pixels.

If you were to make a hero image then this would mean you would want to double it to 3200 x 1800 pixels.

The important thing is the image is optimized which involves two things

  1. Optimizing the type of file that you are using
  2. Optimizing the compression of that file

Kartra Image Size File Types

Photographs:

Optimize to jpg images

Photographs taken on an iPhone or Android tend to be quite large; jpg compression makes the file fairly small. A jpg file gets rid of the data you can’t even really see. For instance the number of colors in a photograph are basically infinite. The number of colors you can see on the web is finite. You get rid of a lot of data and add more speed to your site load by compressing the image to a jpeg.

Graphic Images / Text Images

Make graphic image, text heavy graphics, screenshots, or iconography png files. Png files are even tinier. Another note on png files is to make them transparent. This can easily be done in a program like Canva.

Animated Images:

Animated files should be compressed to a gif. You can run those through an optimizer program like Image Optim or TinyPNG which is an online resource.

DPI

Finally make you image 72 dpi (dots per inch).

Social Media / Blog Image Size (remember to double for Kartra posts)
